Training
Following a training plan
Once a training plan starts, the Calendar is where it lives. The header shows your goal, your current odds and the phase you are in: Base, Build, Peak, Taper or Recovery.
The Calendar
The week view shows one card per day, coloured by the kind of session, with its length, its training load and a small shape of the session. Past days show what you planned against what you rode, marked Done, Partly done, Missed, Swapped, Rest or Sick. Switch to the month view for the bigger picture.
Below the week, a chart shows your fitness, fatigue and form over the whole plan, planned and actual, and a second chart shows the predicted result for your goal narrowing as the plan goes on.
Riding today's session
On a plan day, Home shows a Today card with the session and one line on why it is there. Tap Ride and pick any route: resuming the route you are on is the default, and the plan may suggest a hilly one without insisting. The trainer then follows the session while you ride the road.
Tap any day to see why it is in the plan and a preview of the session. The preview is provisional, because the final shape is set on the day from how fresh you are. From there you can:
- Move it to another date. Pedalsim shows what the move does to your odds, and warns you if it puts two hard days too close, before you confirm.
- Swap it for a different session. The day is marked Swapped and the plan adjusts around it.
- Add other activity, such as a run, a gym session or an outdoor ride, with its length and how hard it felt, so the plan counts that load too.
Riding something other than the plan still counts: a ride close enough to the planned session marks the day done, and anything else is counted as extra training.
How the plan adapts
The plan updates after every ride and again overnight, from what you actually rode. It learns how you respond to training, so its predictions get more personal as you go. Changes stay small near today; when something bigger changes, such as your odds moving or a recovery week shifting, a Your plan changed notice says what changed and why.
A missed day is never crammed into the next one. If you seem more tired than expected, today's session can turn into an easy one, with the reason shown.
- Morning check-in. On plan days, three taps for sleep, soreness and motivation help set the day's session.
- I'm sick. The next days become rest until you tap I'm better, then an easy return block eases you back. Tapped it by mistake? Undo.
- Pause. Pick the dates you will be away. When you resume, keep your goal date or move it by the length of the pause.
- Busy dates. Add a period with no riding or shorter rides, and the plan works around it.
- Edit answers. Change any answer from the questionnaire, such as your weekly hours, and see your odds before and after.
If your goal drifts out of reach, the Calendar offers a later date or a lower target, and you decide. If a test shows you have already reached it, you can aim higher or switch to maintaining.
Tests and goal attempts
The plan schedules its own measurements. A test day is an FTP test (ramp or 20-minute, whichever you prefer) or a maximal effort over 5 minutes, 1 minute or 15 seconds. A new FTP from a test is offered to your profile, and the plan adjusts to it.
On an attempt day for a climb or time trial goal, you ride the course with a pacing plan: your target power, how far ahead or behind your target splits you are, and the distance to go. Your finish time is your result.
Fuelling, food and weight
Every plan day shows fuelling for that session: carbs before a long or hard ride, how much to drink, and carbs per hour on the bike. Long sessions also remind you to eat as you ride.
If you opt in, or set a weight goal, Pedalsim also shows daily energy, carbohydrate, protein and fat targets that follow your training, eating more on hard days and less on easy ones. A quick check-in asks whether you hit yesterday's targets, and Log weight keeps your progress and your profile up to date. Pedalsim warns you when a weight target is too fast or too low, and suggests talking to a professional first.
Recaps and your result
Each Monday a week recap shows the hours, load and days you rode against the plan, how your odds moved and why, and what next week focuses on. When the plan ends, the result screen shows whether you hit the goal, where your result landed in the predicted range, what drove it, and what next: maintain, set a new goal, or take a recovery week.
Reminders, offline and ending a plan
On Windows and Android, Pedalsim reminds you on plan days at your usual ride time, or 08:00 if you did not set one. Turn reminders and daily food targets on or off, and set your preferred FTP test, in Settings under Training plan.
Your plan is saved on the device, so the Calendar works offline. Changes you make offline are sent when you are back online. End plan clears the Calendar; your rides stay in History. Only one plan runs at a time, and if your subscription ends, the plan pauses until you subscribe again.
