Ride Angliru on your smart trainer
The Vuelta a España's most feared climb, in the mountains of Asturias, with ramps close to 24 percent near the top.
- Length
- 12.5 km
- Average gradient
- 10.1%
- Elevation gain
- 1,270 m
- Summit
- 1,570 m
What the climb is like
The first half is steady and only hard, with a short easier stretch through the village of Viapará. The last six kilometres are brutal: long ramps well over 15 percent, and the Cueña les Cabres near the top, one of the steepest pieces of paved road any big race has used.
How to ride it in Pedalsim
Angliru is one of the built-in Pedalsim routes: open it from the button below, or under Pedalsim routes in the app, and ride. Your trainer reproduces every change in its gradient as you climb, and the wind is the live weather at the climb, so a headwind on an exposed section feels like one.
On the 3D map you see the real mountain around you, with its forests, villages and the road winding up ahead, in the season and light of the day you ride. It is on Windows, Android, Linux and the web.
Use your easiest gear from the halfway point and ride the steep ramps at a pace you can keep turning the pedals. Lower the trainer difficulty in Settings if your trainer cannot hold the gradient at your cadence.
Figures are approximate: sources measure the climb from slightly different points.
